Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour
The Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour is an exhilarating "once in a lifetime" experience, and takes place in the majestic Tsitsikamma Rainforest, in the heart of the Garden Route, South Africa. The Tsitsikamma forest lies between the sea and the Tsitsikamma Mountains, between the Bloukrans River in the west and Clarkson in the East. The tour is the first of its kind in Africa, and was modelled on the canopy tours of Costa Rica.
See one of South Africa’s most beautiful indigenous forests from a unique viewpoint, whilst getting up close and personal with the wide variety of bird and plant life in the area. The elusive Knysna Loerie, the Narina Trogon and the Samango Monkey are spotted regularly during the tours. During the exciting three hours of the tour, the friendly and informed guides will tell you everything you always wanted to know about the ecology of the area and its natural beauty-deeply hidden within the shadows of the trees.
The construction of the Tsitsikamma Canopy tour has been done under strict civil engineering standards, making this tour both safe and enjoyable. Only state of the art equipment is used, making it one of the most sophisticated canopy tours in world!
The tour starts with a safety brief, where after a full body harness, pulley and climbing equipment will be put on. You will then gain access to previously inaccessible forest areas by starting at the launch platform. Then, the fun really starts as you slowly glide to the first platform. All the platforms are built high up in the Outeniqua Yellowwoods, so you will experience some truly breathtaking panoramic views at every stop. The whole tour consists of eight platforms and 9 exciting “fufi” slides. The tour departs every half hour, between 8am and 4pm in summer, and between 9am and 2pm in winter. Light refreshments will be served.
