Tsitsikamma National Park can be found in the heart of South Africa’s Scenic Garden Route Region, roughly 68 km from Plettenberg Bay. Known sacredly as Africa’s “place of much water” and named by the earliest inhabitants, the Khoisan.
The dramatic landscape incorporates the Indian Ocean breakers, hammering rock-strewn shores beneath 180m sky-scraping cliffs, lush ever-green forests and fynbos steeping down to the sea in a lavish carpet where prehistoric rivers have etched their path to the ocean through natural rocky valleys.
Tsitsikamma National Park is a safe haven to inter-tidal and marine life and is one of the largest Marine Protected Areas in the world, preserving 11 percent of South Africa’s South Coast shores. Nestled 40 km west of Storms River, on the banks of the Groot River Estuary, deep within the Beautiful Cape Floral Kingdom, is the rustic Natures Valley Rest Camp. Besides boasting a wide array of gorgeous flowers, fynbos and sea birds, peace and tranquility is a sensation that can be fervently felt at Natures Valley Rest Camp.
A network of 6 nature routes has been established for the ardent nature-lover & bird watcher as well as rowing, sailing and canoing on the river. Bathing can be done approximately 2km from the camp at Nature’s Valley beach.
