The Eastern Cape's popular Addo Elephant National Park is home to impressive pachyderms, gorgeous regional vegetation, its own section of the serene Sundays River, and Spekboom Tented Restcamp. Situated directly in the middle of the area's Albany thicket and sporadic grassland, this authentic and rustic tented camp provides guests with the setting for a perfect safari getaway.
Spekboom camp provides five tents, each unit sporting two beds, chairs and a table, kitchen utilities, cutlery and crockery, a braai (barbecue) unit and solar-powered lighting. The camp has two communal hot water showers, as well as toilets and a sink, all of which is within easy reach of the tents themselves.
Guests can take in some animal spotting, at the nearby watering holes, via the camp's specialised viewing slots. Nocturnal animals, such as hyenas congregate around these same areas in the early evenings, and are readily spotted with the use of a flashlight. Self-drive trips are conducted during the day.
