The Old Trading Post

The Old Trading Post - Guest House offers both self-catering and bed and breakfast accommodation. A TGCSA 4 Star grading and AA Travel Guides "Superior" status assures our guests a quality stay. We welcome children and pets.

We are situated in a picturesque valley alongside the lakes and wetlands of Wilderness in a sunny location with views across the reed-beds to the forested foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains. Conveniently only 2 minutes off the N2, yet out in the countryside. The original farmhouse, shop and outbuildings create a venue filled with character and charm.

The cosy, clean, well equipped rooms with comfortable beds, delicious breakfast as well as the peacefulness, and friendly hospitality ensure that guests return time and again.

Enjoy the abundant bird life, walks & cycling in the area. From The Old Trading Post visit the beaches, restaurants, markets and activities in and around Wilderness and Sedgefield, explore further afield to Knysna, George and Oudtshoorn. Many popular golf courses are within 30 minutes drive.

The Garden Room in the shade of an ancient Milkwood Tree, has a double bed,kitchenette for self-catering and en-suite bathroom with shower, and private courtyard.

Lara's Room has a double bed and guests can enjoy a candlelit bath in a deep original cast iron bath or shower.

Strelitzia Cottage is fully equipped for self catering and can accommodate a family of 4 with a double bed in the bedroom and bunk beds in the living area. The en-suite bathroom has a bath and shower. The cottage has air-conditioning.

The Tin Room - is a twin room (2 single beds) with en-suite bathroom with shower, it adjoins the cottage and can be booked on a B&B basis or as a 2nd bedroom for the cottage on a self-catering basis. The Tin Room is air-conditioned.

All accommodation has tea and coffee facilities, fridges, television, linen and towels with many extras for our guests' every need, including fans for summer and heaters and electric blankets for cold winter nights. All guests can use the braai facilities. A generous breakfast is served in our dining room. Well behaved pets are welcome.
