Wilton Guest Farm

A short distance off the N10 between Somerset East and Paterson, with a good dirt road for access, Wilton Guest Farm comes as a considerable surprise to the visitor. This baronial style manor house was constructed during the wool boom of the 1950's and stands as a monument to the enterprise of those days. With all its nooks and crannies, two staircases, long corridors and lots of rooms, one's first reaction is to wish that one had grown up in a house like this.

Space is evident everywhere from the wood panelled formal dining room to the lounge to the numerous bedrooms which is perfectly suited to groups. The kitchen is equipped with a large AGA stove and the separate scullery has, additionally, a microwave oven and a Salton in. In the garden is a braai as well as a pool from which you can look out over a corner of the 13 000 ha estate. The terrain of the farm consists mainly of grazing but the Little Fish River also runs through it and provides some lush, well treed contrasts for variety.
