Mountain Zebra Park

The Mountain Zebra Park is situated in close proximity to the lovely town of Cradock and is less than 300km from the friendly city of Port Elizabeth. The park was opened in 1937 in an effort to preserve the Cape Mountain Zebra and it was because of this that this distinctive and special animal was literally saved from extinction with their current number now estimated at 350. The mountain zebra is distinguished from other members of its family namely by the orange discolouration on its faces and its narrower stripes.
The Mountain Zebra Park has indeed become a refuge for these precious creatures and their natural habitat is nothing short of enchanting - rolling plains, craggy heights, undulating fertility, and deep valleys are just some of the many scenic sights that make up its incredible landscape. Other wildlife that can be viewed at the park includes the eland, gemsbok, Mountain reedbuck, grey rhebok, black wildebeest, and the red hartebeest. The wooded plains of the Mountain Zebra Park has other wildlife to view such as the African buffalo and black rhino while visitors to this sumptuous nature reserve will have excellent bird watching opportunities and marvellous game drives to enjoy also.
