Knysna is the perfect place to make your base from which to explore the Garden Route and the surrounding forests. Knysna is well known for its rich green forests and endless lakes. The heads flank a deep but potentially treacherous channel through which the sea pours into and flood the wide and breathtakingly beautiful lagoon at the mouth of the Knysna River. Knysna is a picturesque historical village, with antique shops, African and local arts and crafts and coffee shops. The Featherbed Nature Reserve is only a short ferry trip across the lagoon, and a walking trail through here is a must. Ride on the famous Outeniqua Steam Train along the coast through breathtaking scenery. Enjoy a game of golf at one of the many championship golf courses.
