Our stay at Lantern Hill was certainly one of the highlights of our trip through the Cape. The care with which we were directed through Grahamstown to find the location was a sign of what was to come. The parking area and the first image of the well cared-for and pretty cottage atmosphere welcomed and drew us in gently to the lovely bedroom where the lights were on (on a drizzly afternoon), linen crisp and everything in perfect condition. What I loved was the table under the window fitted with plugs for the laptop with a view onto the clourful garden. The beautifully renovated house is more like a home with enough areas to sit and enjoy a magazine or a good book . Being a block away from the University and some of the schools, the town centre, yet secluded, makes this the ideal home from home. However, what is most appealing is the warm hospitality of the owners who spent time to chat whenever we met them and cooked the most scrumptious breakfasts ever! It is no wonder that guests who have once spent a night at Lantern Hill want to return - we certainly shall.
