Centrally situated in historic Grahamstown, Courtlands was built in approximately 1850. This charming old home is the perfect base for exploration of our cultural centre, Frontier Country and The Sunshine Coast. Being in the midst of the business area and 150 metres from the Rhodes University Campus we are a popular stop over for Educational and other Conferences. We are close to The Law Courts, The Magistrate's Building, Peppergrove Mall, Private Schools, Albany Museums, SAIAB Research Complex and quaint coffee shops & pubs.
The Courtyard Cottage
A simply restored wash house of the 1850's and turned into a comfortable small cottage complete with bedroom and en suite shower, it has a small well equipped kitchen and a spacious sitting room. The Cottage bedroom has twin 3/4 beds with good quality linen, cotton cellular blankets for summer nights and warm down duvets for the winter. Leading out into the courtyard, it is spacious, light and airy.
The sitting room has a double sleeper couch which is used by families and friends alike, a dining table, large sofa and Satellite TV. An outside table and bench are ideal for breakfast under the trees.
The Garden Room
Overlooking the back water wise garden, this sparkling sunny room has a double bed with good quality linen, en suite shower and kitchenette. Fully carpeted, there are tables and chairs for your comfort and Satellite TV for your enjoyment in the evenings.
Breakfast can be taken in the garden where you will be kept company by our people friendly bird life!
