Arniston Lodge is a charming two-storey thatched roof house styled to merge with traditional cottages of the lovely fishing village of Kassiesbaai. We are just a few minutes from the nice beaches of Arniston.
We at Arniston Lodge provide you with excellent accommodation for up to 8 people. Our 4 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The lovely facility upstairs also provides a view of the ocean, dunes and Kassiesbaai. Erwin Brigl, your gracious host, speaks in English, Afrikaans and German to provide you with a more personalized service. The rooms are normally leased out individually but the entire cottage can also be rented.
The Lodge has the following amenities:
The Upstairs bedrooms: two double bedrooms upstairs charmingly under the thatch with full en-suite bathrooms. They have a view of Kassiesbaai which is a national monument, the Arniston Dunes and part of the sea. Stylishly decorated and comes equipped with hairdryers, built-in safe and tea and coffee making facilities.
The Downstairs bedrooms: two bedrooms downstairs adjacent to the garden and the sparkling pool. One is a double bedroom and the other one a twin bedroom. Both have en-suite showers.
The swimming pool at Arniston Lodge is only but one of the many attractions at Arniston Lodge. There is also a well-stocked bar, a huge open log fireplace and a protected barbecue which allows you to cook locally caught Galjoen or Yellow Tail. We offer white sand beaches that stretch for miles around, a play area of dunes, a large cave carved by the sea waves out of the lovely sandstone cliffs. Charming thatched whitewashed cottages add perfection to the picturesque quality.
Arniston Lodge's name was derived from the British East Indiaman shipwrecked on 1815. The wreck can still be seen at the beach. Local fishermen have lived here for more than 150 years.
Wonderful diving spots and splendid shells washing up on the beach are shared with travelers to the village. Numerous bird species such as the beautiful Blue Crane, the South African national bird, can be viewed in the region. The Southern Right whale can also be seen during the months of June to December. L'Agulhas is the southernmost town in the whole of Africa. It features a unique lighthouse, Bredasdorp with an interesting museum and the De Hoop Nature Reserve complete this lovely area.
